I met up with my dear friend awesome b. rockinsocks in NYcity this weekend for the nyc comic con. Anyone attending knows of the disaster thet ensued and I won't rehash it here. Poor awesome and myself were at the javits center but like so many disgruntled New yorkers, could not make it into the convention due to capacity problems. I had no portfolio to speak of but she had actually created a small ashcan size sketchbook to network with. (And I have no problem promoting it on my page either). I've been to plenty of cons before but never really went after work or networking oppertunities. Truth be told, I feel sort of like a hack, awesome was raring to go with her books, was barred at the gate and here I was just sort of on a weekend trip. I've realized I must value my work more, I need to get a portfolio together-not just fantasy pinups. Though, these do sell on ebay. I want to start doing more rpg type stuff and character designs. To soothe our collective dissapointment we headed for awesome's favorite tea house and talked about a future collaboration. A new sketchbook, 48 pages through dreamweaver press may be in the future. Also awesome just bought bastardhalf.com where eventually I will have my own page. Right now it's just baby steps but hopefull yhtis can balloon into bigger projects/collabs.
